"This is a way for Pennsylvania to recognize the service and sacrifice of its residents who answered the call of duty." Eligible veterans, or beneficiaries, may receive a one-time benefit of $75 per month for each month of active service, up to $525, for which the veteran was eligible to receive the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Survivors of veterans who lost their lives or died as a result of service-connected wounds, diseases or injuries may also be eligible for an additional payment of $5,000.
