Robbins – Longietti Announce Hermitage Municipal Authority State Grant

Growing Greener Funding to help expand Bobby Run treatment plant

The Hermitage Municipal Authority will receive a $375,000 state grant to help cover the costs of expanding the Bobby Run Water Pollution Control Plant, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Mark Longietti (D-7).

The Growing Greener New or Innovative Water/Wastewater Technology Grant will be used to rehabilitate two existing anaerobic digesters and construct additional anaerobic digesters.

"This grant will help bring this important project to fruition. The combined advantages of this project are waste reduction to local landfills and electrical power generation," Senator Robbins said. "This project is a win-win for the environment, the local community and the residents of the City of Hermitage."

"This is an important project for the community," said Representative Longietti. "Once completed, the expanded capacity will enable the Hermitage Municipal Authority to allow for the acceptance of alternative feedstock, such as restaurant and grocery waste. Biologically derived methane gas will be harnessed to produce electrical power for resale."

The Growing Greener New or Innovative Water/Wastewater Technology Grant is administered through the Department of Environmental Protection.
